Day 5 of our PILGRIMAGE began with a powerful visit to the Mother Church of the whole world — the Basilica of St. John Lateran! ⛪
Here, we walked through our second Holy Door of the Jubilee Year of Hope, a grace-filled moment of prayer and renewal. ✨
We also had the privilege of venerating the relics of Saints Peter and Paul, whose heads are enshrined in the High Altar Baldacchino, along with a relic of the table Christ used to Institute the Sacrament of the Eucharist the Last Supper. ️
The Lateran is the oldest of Rome’s four major basilicas and the cathedral of the Diocese of Rome — making it the official ecclesiastical seat of the Pope (not St. Peter’s!). It bears the full title:
“Archbasilica of the Most Holy Savior and of Saints John the Baptist and John the Evangelist in the Lateran.”
Please
keep the intentions coming — we’re carrying them with us every step of the way!
