We traveled to the serene coastal town of Nettuno, and I had the honor of celebrating Holy Mass over the remains of St. Maria Goretti—a young saint who has deeply influenced the faith of so many--including me.
At just 11 years old, Maria forgave her attacker, who stabbed her 14 times for not accepting her advances, as she lay dying, embodying a radical love and mercy that is nothing short of heroic. Her words echo through history:
"Yes, I forgive him… and I want him to be with me in heaven.”
She is the patron saint of purity, youth, and forgiveness—virtues we desperately need in our world today. Standing at her tomb, I was struck by the power of her witness. Her courage and holiness continue to inspire countless souls.
After Mass, we walked to the coast of the Mediterranean Sea, most of us for the first time—a moment of refreshment, awe, and gratitude.
We soaked in the historic medieval beauty and peaceful rhythm of Nettuno—its cobblestone streets, seaside views, and simple charm made it feel like time slowed down just for us.
